Japanese Weddings

Yui-no is a Japanese term that translates roughly into the verb "apply." The meaning has been fiddled around with to apply in the case of Japanese wedding traditions to indicate an opportunity for the opposing families-opposing, is that really the term I want?-to unite through dining and drinking. Yui-no still exerts a strong influence in the courtship ritual of Japanese brides and grooms. During the Yui-no meeting, the two families will exchange gifts with the primary consideration for the prospective bride being what is called Obi, a gift intended to symbolize virtuousness. In exchange for the Obi, the bridegroom receives a Hakama skirt which is representative of fidelity to his bride.

Japanese weddings can be as distinctive as a Catholic wedding is from a Mormon wedding. There are basically four distinct types of wedding ceremonies in Japan, broken down and individualized according to religious traditions. The most common is the Shinto because that is the primary religion of the country. In addition to Shinto there are also ceremonies that mark the cultural aspects of Buddhism and Christianity, and of course there is a civil ceremony that avoids religious interference.

The Shinto Japanese wedding ceremony is highly ritualistic and traditional, presided over by a Shinto priest. This type of ceremony begins with the Shinto priest practicing an ancient purification service and traditionally takes place in either Shinto shrine or sanctuary. The bride will wear a white kimono representing purity, along with a usually rather intricate headdress. The groom wears a black kimono along with a stripe Hakama, not necessarily the one he received at the Yui-no. The Shinto wedding ceremony is rather short in comparison to some of the excruciatingly long wedding ceremonies practiced in America, involving several rituals enacted by the priest as well as the taking of an oath of faithfulness read by the groom. It will then be time for the San-San Kudo, sometimes known as the Three-Times-Three Exchange, involving ritualistic nuptial cups. As with western ceremonies, the bride and groom will also exchange wedding rings.

The Christian and Buddhist wedding ceremonies are basically just intrusions into the Japanese culture of foreign religious iconography. Typically what is meant by a Christian wedding ceremony in Japan is something more along the simple Protestant range rather than the indulgences of the Catholic hypocrisies. As for the Buddhist wedding ceremonies in Japan, they include such rituals as traditional Buddhist prayer, the burning of incense, and oaths of fidelity.

Japanese Weddings

The Japanese prefer to bypass the summer vacation season to practice the Oriental art of gettin' hitched in the cool, cool of the fall. Japanese weddings are, as you might expect, highly traditional. Obviously, all weddings are exercises in ancient ritual, the meaning of which eludes all but the most dedicated of folklorist, but compared to general traditions associated with most western weddings, getting married in Japan is a truly amazing experience.

The Japanese are, it must be admitted, a bit more-shall we say formal-than most westerners. An ancient Japanese wedding tradition known as Mi-Ai still takes place today, though it is not quite as stiff and restrictive as in days of yore. Until the turn of the century, the "Mi-Ai" interview of a man and woman was more of a formality than an opportunity to know each other with a view to marriage. The Mi-Ai interview was an occasion for the once and future groom to wrangle an invitation to the house of a possible wifely opportunity. Should the woman have drawn his favor, the prospective groom would signify his intentions by leaving behind a token of his acceptance in the form of a fan. And if the object of the groom's intentions were not as favorably impressed?

Well, now that hardly mattered, of course. The Mi-Ai interview still lives on today in a far less formal arrangement; today the meeting is set up by a mediating go-between with the intention of letting the potential bride and groom get to know each other better. It can only be assumed, that if the meeting doesn't impress the prospective bride that she need not go through with the union.

There are many other Hand Seals, but they work slightly different than the ones shown above. Think of these other ones as finishing seals. Which, instead of being a used in many different jutsus, they're designated to their own specific jutsu, and appear after all the regular Hand Seals are made. Some of these finishing seals can be found below.

In the series of Naruto a jutsu ("Technique" or "Skill" in Japanese) is a general term referring to any technique a ninja might use that not any...

In the series of Naruto a jutsu ("Technique" or "Skill" in Japanese) is a general term referring to any technique a ninja might use that not any ordinary human could naturally imitate. In some cases the line between a simple action and a Jutsu is blurred and vague, allowing for some humor (Uzumaki Naruto: "What? How did you get loose?!" Uchiha Sasuke: "Rope Untying no Jutsu. It's basic stuff."...:yociexp97:Oh yeah, the cool & sexy Know-it-all Sasuke *evil glare*:th_053_XD:)...right...returning to explaining XD

Generally speaking, jutsu are divided into three categories: Taijutsu (Body techniques), Genjutsu (Mind techniques) and Ninjutsu (Techniques that rely on sources beyond those). Besides these main categories there is another, more specific category: Fūin jutsu (Sealing techniques).
Besides being either Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Genjutsu a jutsu can also be "Hiden" ( Secret). Hiden jutsu are jutsu passed down from generation to generation within some clans.

There is technically another category called Kinjutsu (Forbidden Techniques), but it refers not to the type of the jutsu but to the fact that it is forbidden to learn or perform it. A technique can be categorized as kinjutsu if it either causes great harm to the user if overused, such as Rock Lee's Lotus techniques, or if the techniques are dark or sinister in nature, such as many of Orochimaru's skills.

There are also Kekkei genkai. These are not really jutsu, but special, genetically inherited abilities like the ability to copy other jutsu or to merge your body with other bodies. Kekkei genkai abilities that work via the user's eye are called Dojutsu (Pupil Techniques). Some jutsu are based on Kekkei Genkai, like Tsukuyomi. :070:

There are seven different ranks in jutsu:
S-rank: Secret: extreme level jutsu
A-rank: Kinjutsu: ultra high level jutsu
B-rank: Jounin level jutsu
C-rank: Chuunin level jutsu
D-rank: Genin level jutsu
E-rank: Academy student level jutsu
No rank: Jutsu relying on the unique abilities of the users (Kekkei genkai, Hiden jutsu)

Genjutsu (illusion techniques)

Genjutsu (Illusion Techniques) are techniques that use the chakra in the victim's nervous system to create illusions; an advanced intellectual Ninjutsu. The most commonly seen Genjutsu is simple creation of phantasms- causing the targeted person to hear, see, smell, taste and feel things that are not actually there in order to manipulate them; other applications of Genjutsu are rare.

                        Itachi's Genjutsu vs Kakashi

There are several ways to counter Genjutsu. Because it uses the victim's own chakra against him, he can cancel the genjutsu by trying to stop, and thereby disrupt, his own chakra flow. This is called Genjutsu Kai (Illusion Technique Cancel). If this doesn't work, then the only way for the victim to cancel the Genjutsu is having someone else disrupt his chakra flow with theirs through body contact. It has also been seen that if a person caused themself a "shocking" pain (such as a stab wound or broken finger) that they will wake up as well. It should be noted, however, that in the case of some high-level Genjutsu techniques that even pain will not break the Jutsu.

Ninjutsu (Ninja Techniques)

Ninjutsu (Ninja Techniques) is hard to define; it is basically any technique that does not fall under either Taijutsu or Genjutsu, which means that it uses sources outside those naturally available to the body or the mind to accomplish its task. Ninjutsu relies on chakra and, most of the times, hand seals (Sequential positions the hands are put into in order to mold chakra in the necessary manner to perform a jutsu).

Taijutsu (Body Techniques)

Taijutsu (Body techniques), or more figuratively hand-to-hand combat) refers to any techniques involving the martial arts or the optimisation of natural human abilities in general. In some cases chakra is involved to enhance the techniques, but generally speaking a Taijutsu user can fare well without much chakra available compared to a Genjutsu or Ninjutsu user.

Naruto Bloodline Limits - Kekkei Genkai

This name classifies a genetic trait or ability passed down through generations of members of a certain clan. Since the ability can only be inherited through blood, others cannot imitate it through any other means.

Bloodline Limits are rare in some cases, even amongst clans. Those with a Blood Limit are employed as special tools by ninja clans in the interest of gaining an advantage in war and combat. Since country rulers specifically employed those with Bloodline Limits, as tools of war, those who possessed them were associated with it's meaning along with violence and death. This provoked uneasiness amongst people without a Bloodline Limit. Those with Bloodline Limits were singled out by society. This eventually led to the provocation of murderous intent through fear for those with a Bloodline Limit. This is what promoted the interest of the extinction of Bloodline Limits, and only those who were lucky survived the murderous raids.

Konoha's clans with Bloodline Limit

BYAKUGAN

Founder: Hyuuga Clan
Description: Byakugan is a special eye trait limited to Hyuuga Clan members. When this Bloodline Limit is used a strain is forced around the eye below the temple towards the ears. There's a noticeable difference on the user's face: blood vessels appear to be pulsating through the skin. The user of this Bloodline Limit is capable of turning it on or off at will (after originally performing the hand seals). It appears as though its use has no negative physical effect on the user, but it is not known what kind of effect is placed on the eye after being used for a prolonged period of time.

When the user activates Byakugan, the user gains exceptional vision. This new vision allows the user to view an opponents Chakra circulatory system.

Chakra Circulatory System

The user also has a field of vision, which is almost 360 degrees, minimizing the blind spot. In addition to this, the users range of vision can increase over a very long distance. The strength of this vision may depend on the ability of the user. The increase in range of vision complements the new field of vision. This allows the user to detect, without effort, any action within a 15m radius (the small blind spot is counted as an exception). The Byakugan user boasts an advantage in the field of close combat due to the vision and sense of nearby surroundings he/she has.

A Byakugan user knows what points to press to stop the chackra flow in the oponent's body by performing Jyuuken (Gentle Fist). In a body are so called Chakra holes (Tenketsu). A highly skilled Byakugan user is capable of damaging all of the opponents Chakra holes and potentially shutting down the opponents Chakra circulatory system.

Sharingan (Copy Wheel Eye)

Founders: Uchiha Clan
Description: The Sharingan is a special kind of pupil in the eye that some members of the legendary Uchiha clan possess. Among the many abilities the Sharingan gives to the user, the most well known is the capability to memorize any technique that is viewed by the unique eye, these include Ninjutsu, Genjutsu and Taijutsu. The only techniques it cannot copy are the ones that are limited to any other special bloodline. When a specific technique has been copied it can be used perfectly by the user. Another advantage of the Sharingan is the ability to see through any illusionary techniques.

Popular Uchiha & Saringan users in the series:

Uchiha Sasuke >_>

Uchiha Itachi <_<

Kakashi Hatake <3<3<3

Unfortunately a huge weakness of the Sharingan is when it is being used chakra is drained rapidly from the user so in order to use the techniques that it has copied, a large amount of training has to be done to acquire the strength and stamina needed to perform the technique. It is thought that the Sharingan evolved from the Byakugan which is the Hyuuga clans bloodline limit.

The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Those born under the influence of the Ox or Buffalo are fortunate to be stable and persevering. Ox people work hard without complaints at work or at home. They know that they will succeed through hard work and sustained efforts, and do not believe in get-rich-quick schemes.
Chakra is energy extracted from cells that Ninja's need to be able to use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, to use them correctly the Ninja needs to mix their Chakra with their spiritual energy then use special Hand Seals to activate the technique that they want to use.
A Ninja must train their spiritual energy through battles or special targeted training in order to control large amounts of chakra when using techniques.
Chakra is very similar to the Ki energy found in DragonBall Z.

:d200712201608307905 As you all should know, Masashi Kishimoto is the creator of Naruto...and curently my God, hahahah :d200712201614418742

Born	Kishimoto Masashi
November 8, 1974 (age 34)
Nagi, Okayama, Japan
Residence	Okayama Prefecture, Japan
Nationality	Japanese
Occupation	Manga artist
Known for	Naruto

When Kishimoto was originally creating the Naruto series, he looked to other shōnen manga for influences while attempting to make his characters as unique as possible.Kishimoto cites Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series as one of these influences, noting that Son Goku, the protagonist of Dragon Ball, was a key factor when creating Naruto Uzumaki due to his energetic and mischievous personality. To complement the character Naruto, Kishimoto worked on creating a rival that was a "cool genius", as he believed this was "the archetypal rival character".

After reviewing different manga for ideas, he ultimately developed Sasuke Uchiha. When creating the primary heroine, Kishimoto admitted, "I don't have a definite image of what a heroine should be". He eventually created Sakura Haruno, emphasizing "her energy and flirtatious spirit" as her primary characteristics. These three characters would be the mold for the other three main Naruto teams. For Kishimoto, Sasuke remains the most difficult character for him to draw. While drawing, errors and mishaps commonly result in Sasuke's youthful appearance being lost, a result of Kishimoto's inexperience in drawing characters mature beyond their years. Despite the time and energy Kishimoto spends drawing Sasuke, Sasuke has become his favorite character to draw.

When drawing the characters, Kishimoto follows a five-step process that he consistently follows: concept and rough sketch, drafting, inking, shading, and coloring. These steps are followed when he is drawing the actual manga and making the color illustrations that commonly adorn the cover of tankōbon, the cover of Weekly Shōnen Jump, or other media, but the toolkit he utilizes occasionally changes.[9] For instance, he utilized an airbrush for one illustration for a Weekly Shōnen Jump cover, but decided not to use it for future drawings largely due to the cleanup required.

When Kishimoto was creating the setting of the Naruto manga, he initially concentrated on the designs for village of Konohagakure, the primary setting of the series. Kishimoto asserts that his design for Konohagakure was created "pretty spontaneously without much thought", but admits that the scenery is based on his home in Okayama Prefecture. Kishimoto created Konohagakure without specifying a specific era or location in the real world, noting that the village is "just a place in [his] head". Without a specific time period, Kishimoto included modern elements in the series such as convenience stores, but specifically excluded projectile weapons and vehicles from the storyline. For reference materials, Kishimoto performs his own research into Japanese culture and alludes to it in his work. In an interview, he commented that he "often visits Japanese gardens and [goes] to Kabuki performances" for reference material.

Kishimoto added that, as Naruto takes place in a "Japanese fantasy world," the creator has to "set certain rules, in a systematic way" so that he could easily "convey the story". Kishimoto wanted to "draw on" the Chinese zodiac tradition, which had a long-standing presence in Japan; the zodiac hand signs originate from this. Regarding technology Kishimoto said that Naruto would not have any firearms. He said he may include automobiles, aircraft, and "low-processing" computers; Kishimoto specified the computers would "maybe" be eight-bit and that they would "definitely not" be sixteen-bit.

:406: Hello my dear friends... I'm very sorry I haven't been around lately but I had some family problems...luckily everything that's bad already...

:406: Hello my dear friends... I'm very sorry I haven't been around lately but I had some family problems...luckily everything that's bad already ended :heida:

...by the way...it's already 2009 in Japan :P20078610471253: I completely forgot that they're so advanced when it comes to the time :P20073131448531: *smacks her head*

2008

This year have been quite ugly for me when I look at the general picture. I entered in 2008 completely tired and broken because of my job and as the year started everything took a very wrong turn in that matter. My boss had some huge family problems and she came and took revenge for all that on me after I spend my Christmas alone in that damn store with no pleople interested in too expensive furniture :P20073131448531: Sorry for my rant here but this is a part of my year also so...bear with me, please. My exams came and I took a paid vacantion...my very first vacantion but I could study as I should've because everyday my boss was calling me asking me where is everything, shouting at me because of some mistakes she made in matters that didn't concerned me at all T_T so I quit. The exams passed. After that I had mightmares because of that job...Here you might think I'm still a kid and I let myself to be affected...and you're right...I can't say that's not true...

The rest of the year passed quickly and I had some awsome moments with my dear friends. My summer was pretty awsome, I went in atrip with Shini-chan and my mom, then to my aunt in the other part of the country where I stayed 2 weeks [I've never been away from home that much :JFBQ00203070420Acic] and in august I went to the seaside. But my grandfather died T_T.... and then I came back here :P2006122110433596:

Once the school year started I started realising that this college is not helping me at all...but from here go my new year resolutions :99CA95C9951AF36843D3A9342EEC83AE:

I became more of a loner than I was before but still this year helped me to stay in front of myself and sincerely analyze myself and I've learned some weird things about me [not necessarily in a bad way though ^_^b]

I think I'm growing up...yeah, even if I have 21 years old I still don't feel I'm a grown up...maybe that's because the idea of a grown up in my opinion is something that can be achived not only through life experience but more through feeling everything around you in the correct way....hah, I'll stop here with this idea 'cause I could write until tomorrow about what growing up means for me.

A conclusion of 2008 would be I'm a spoiled kid...or better said an old kid *laughs*

The good parts of 2008 were more than in any other year because of my friends and the japanese events *dances*

2009

My feeling about 2009 is that is like a two edge sword. I mean If I'll be clever enough everything will end in the best way but if I'm not going to change in some ways I'll definitely lose a lot of things. But this sounds awsome in my opinion :D That means that my life will be interesting and more lively that the last one.

All I want for this year is:

* to end the college in the best way possible XD
* to strengthen my bonds with everyone
* learn more and more about Japan
* see as many anime series I can :D
* start and END my stories lol...I still haven't finished my stories XD...and someone's gonna kill me
* improve my singing and drawing
* lose as much weight I can *laughs*
* to live wonderful moments that will teach me more about life
* start managing my life in a better way
* and the last one...... I want to remain a kid in my heart but the mind to be more grown up than before XP

I'll end the flow of my thoughts here. My dear friends, I wish to you all that's best, may the number of people who love you double this year ^_^y and make a wish come true ^_^.

Happy new year!

The Japanese garden is designed to be a faithful representation of nature and to impart a sense of simple, unspoiled beauty. Its style therefore contrasts with that of a Western garden, which relies on shaping nature into a kind of geometrical beauty. There are three main styles of Japanese garden; Tsukiyama, Karesansui, and Chaniwa.

A 'Tsukiyama' - style garden is arranged to show nature in miniature, with hills, ponds and streams. The Karesansui style of garden developed in the Muromachi Era as a representation of Zen spiritualism. In this style, sand or gravel is used to represent rivers or the sea. It is charactarized by its force and simplicity.

The Chaniwa is the garden adjacent to a ceremonial teahouse. This style of garden avoids any suggestion of showiness and strives for the utmost simplicity and naturalness. The main features of such a garden are shown here:

Dotonbori was designated as the entertainment district of Osaka as early as 1621. But today, Dotonbori is the main destination for Japanese food.
It’s one of the best place to try Fugu (pufferfish), and some of the local specialties including the takoyaki octopus balls or Okinomiyaki. The price is affordable too.

On that street are also restaurants where you can learn to cook and you must do the food yourself O.O:yociexp69:

Dotonbori is a large scale downtown along the south bank of the Dotonbori-gawa Canal. Osaka is known as the gastronomists' town, and thus the entire area of Dotonbori is thronged with an unbelievable number of restaurants and amusement facilities, and is dearly loved by the Osakaites. There are theaters that play traditional puppet shows Bunraku, storytellers' halls and other popular entertainment as well as a number of movie theaters

Dotonbori is often selected as a scene in the Japanese and foreign movies as the symbol of Osaka. They have recently built flowerbeds and fountains on both sides of the Dotonbori-gawa Canal to offer better environment for a downtown, which are always attracting visitors and residents. On both sides of the Dotonbori-gawa Canal are lined with advertisements and neon signs. The entire sides of buildings are decorated with neon lamps. The illuminated signboards and neon lamps reflect on the Dotonbori-gawa Canal at night, making Dotonbori even merrier.

There is the Hozen-ji Temple built in the 17th century on the first street to the south of street along the Dotonbori Canal. A paper lantern hangs at the front of the temple, which gives off pale orange light at sunset. The stone paved street in front of the Hozen-ji Temple is called the Hozen-ji Yokocho Lane. Shops with a beautiful latticework stand side by side as a reminiscence of the Edo Period in the 17th century and they give off peaceful atmosphere.
